Disposition: Shy, withdrawn, uses “closed” body language. Has small smiles and little giggles. Laughs and smiles infrequently. Appears unsure of herself. Occasionally speaks her mind. Is frightening when angered. Uses generic speech patterns.
As the world’s only living natural magic user, Terra has grown up a combination weapon, slave, and test subject of the Empire. A good chunk of her life has been spent wearing a thought-deadening slave crown. Terra starts the story as a very frightened and confused young woman who has had her identity defined for her.

Complexion: Middle range
Body type: Short and wiry, some muscle, pointy nose, sort of pointy chin.
Disposition: Generally good humored, though prone to mood swings. Enthusiastic, adventuresome type. Uses quick movements, uses “open” gestures. Hides a darker side. Sometimes uses very casual or dialectal speech patterns. Curses freely.
Locke is the Returners’ resident treasure hunter and Figaro correspondant. An emergency rescue mission led him to become Terra’s protector and friend. Though he wouldn’t say it in so many words, Locke defines himself by his past failings. The driving force behind his actions is to atone for a memory that still haunts him. The bouts of self-loathing that this induces is rarely seen by others.

Hair/eyes: Long blond hair reaching to mid-back, blue eyes
Complexion: Naturally pale, has deep tan
Body type: Tall, medium build, broad-shouldered, long, straight-bridged nose, kind of square chin.
Disposition: Carries himself regally, like one who is used to being listened to. Even tempered and patient. Uses well-educated language style. Withholds from cursing. Flirts too much, doesn’t always know when to quit. Loud, sudden laugh.
Edgar has held the powerful yet lonely title of ‘king’ for ten years. His three loves are for his small country, his mechanics, and his women (as a distant third). For the past few years he has been playing nice with the Empire, biding his time. Edgar hasn’t seen his twin brother in ten years, and misses him.

Disposition: Kind of like Edgar but without the flirting and regalness.
The party finds Sabin on top of Mt. Kolts with some personal business to settle with his fellow student, Vargas. He joins the Returners.

Shadow is a ninja and assassin. It appears that his loyalty and services can be bought. His constant companion is the doberman Interceptor.

Body type: Tall and muscular for a woman, curvy, not skinny
Disposition: Cold. Reserved. Straight-backed. Uses clipped, formal language and gestures. Is accustomed to giving orders. Avoids physical contact with others.
One of the three Empire’s generals. As the youngest and only female, Celes has acquired a hardcore work ethic and scary personality in order to gain the respect of the Gestahlian military. As an infant, she was artifically infused with magical powers.

Body type: Medium build, very pointy nose and chin. High cheekbones.
Disposition: Mentally unsound. Uses conflicting language patterns and body language that sometimes borders on the feminine. Giggles at inappropriate times. Curses freely. Views most people as inferior.
Kefka is one of the Empire’s three generals. He was one of the first to be infused with magic, though some say the process drove him over the edge. Apparently Kefka spent some time torturing Terra or otherwise delighting in the cruel experiments done to her. Regards her as something of a toy that was recently lost.
